1. Tripura launches state component of Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY).

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has launched the state component of Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in Agartala.
He has assured that the target to give training to more than 1 lakh 16,000 youths by 2020 will be achieved.
Tripura is the first state in the country to implement pilot project for accreditation for skilled candidates.

2. Kerala become the first state to issue brain death certificate.

Kerala has become the first state to adopt a standard operating procedure (SOP) for determining brain death cases.
A medical board comprising four doctors-at least one should be from the government service-will be authorised to declare a patient brain dead.
To check any misuse, the SOP defines brain dead and state of coma in detail.

3. Gobar-dhan Yojana to be launched.

‘Gobar-dhan Yojana’, the central scheme for managing and converting cattle dung into manure and biogas, is about to be launched.
The scheme will be launched at national level from Karnal in Haryana on April 30.
Under this scheme, one village in every district of the country would be selected for its implementation.

4. Patna tops in 4G connectivity among 20 largest cities: Report

According to a report from OpenSignal, a wireless coverage mapping company, Patna has topped in 4G connectivity among 20 of India’s largest cities.
It has emerged ahead of the likes of Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi.

5. India unwilling to participate in SAARC

Citing continuing support to cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, India said on Saturday.
It was difficult to proceed with the SAARC initiative under current circumstances.
SAARC Summits are usually held biennially hosted by a member state in alphabetical order.
The last SAARC Summit in 2014 was held in Kathmandu.

6. Foreign Secretary to visit Bangladesh.

Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale is expected to meet his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohammad Shahidul Haque in Dhaka and discuss ways to deepen bilateral ties.
Mr Gokhale is also likely to meet Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
This is Mr Gokhale’s first visit to Bangladesh after taking over as the Foreign Secretary.

7. India’s forex reserves hit a life-time high.

The country’s foreign exchange reserves hit a life-time high of 424.361 billion US dollar.
Previously, the reserves had touched a record high of 421.914 billion dollar on February 9, 2018.=
Gold reserves remained unchanged at 21.614 billion US dollar.

8. India, Nepal for strong relations.

India and Nepal have agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations in key areas of border security, connectivity, trade and agriculture.
The two countries have agreed for a rail line that will connect the border city of Raxaul in India to Kathmandu in Nepal.
The agreements were reached during talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

9. Indo-Korean joint exercise SAHYOG- HYEOBLYEOG 2018 off the Chennai coast.

Indo-Korean joint anti-piracy, search & rescue exercise ‘SAHYOG- HYEOBLYEOG 2018’ was conducted off the Chennai coast.
The joint exercise is a part of ongoing cooperative arrangements b/w the 2 coast guards for the past 12 years
The exercise aims to develop working level co-operation & enhance inter-operability in the fields of maritime search & rescue, anti-piracy operations.

10. Desert Tiger 5: UAE and Malaysia conclude joint military exercise.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Malaysia concluded joint military exercise “Desert Tiger 5” aimed at sharing expertise and enhancing joint military actions in Dubai, UAE.

11. Humanity’s first mission to the Sun to launch in July

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe — humanity’s first mission to the Sun — is undergoing final preparations.
The mission is scheduled for launch on July 31, 2018.
Parker Solar will orbit directly through the solar atmosphere – the corona – closer to the surface than any human-made object has ever gone.

12. President Kovind bestowed with Equatorial Guinea’s highest civilian honour.

President Ram Nath Kovind was conferred with the Condecoracion, the highest honour accorded to a non-citizen by the government of Equatorial Guinea.
President Kovind was bestowed with the medal of the Gran Colar de la Independencia by his counterpart Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
He is awarded for his contribution to the cause of development, security and world peace.

13. Trouble in Flipkart-Amazon merger.

The possible coming together of online retailers Amazon and Flipkart is likely to face close scrutiny on competition issues.
Engaged in intense competition, home-grown Flipkart and Amazon India are leading players in the Indian online retail market place.
The combined market share of the two parties, which is around 80 percent is most likely to  pose challenges to the deal.

14. Bayern coasts to sixth consecutive bundesliga title by defeating Augsburg.

Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga champions for the 6th time by defeating Augsburg.
Bayern Munich has now become league champion for the 28th time in its history.

15. India continues to shine in Commonwealth.

India continued to bag gold medals in Commonwealth Games 2018, with weightlifter Punam Yadav and 16-year-old shooter Manu Bhaker winning a gold medal each.
Yadav bagged hers in women’s 69kg weightlifting, while Bhaker’s came in 10-metre air pistol event.
Shooter Heena Sidhu won the silver medal in the 10-m air pistol event at 21st Commonwealth Games being held in Gold Coast, Australia.

16. Bayern Munich won Bundesliga title.

German giants Bayern Munich win sixth successive Bundesliga title after hitting Augsburg 4-1 at the Augsburg Arena.
The result also means that Bayern is the German league champion for the 28th time in its history.
The result leaves Bayern 20 points clear with five league games left and underlined their absolute dominance of the Bundesliga.

17. Ravi Kumar won a bronze medal.

Indian shooter Ravi Kumar won the bronze medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Ravi acquired the third spot with a score of 224.1 after 22 shots.
Australia’s Dane Sampson won the gold while Bangladesh’s Abdullah Hel Baki claimed silver.
India are now third in the Games’ medal tally with 10 medals including 6 gold, 2 silver & 2 bronze

18. Most Capped Women’s ODI Cricketer.

Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj has become the most capped player in women’s One-Day International (ODI) cricket.
She achieved the feat (192 matches) during the first ODI against the England women at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
Mithali surpassed England’s Charlotte Edwards, who retired in September 2017 with 191 ODIs under her belt.

19. Dadasaheb Excellence Award for Anushka.

Anushka Sharma will be awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018 for being a path-breaking producer.
The 29-year-old actress has been appreciated for breaking new grounds as a film producer, along with her brother Karnesh Sharma.
Three movies produced by Anushka, NH 10, Phillauri and Pari belonged to three different genres, thriller, romance and horror.
