Following is the 12 April 2018 Current Affairs For Government Exam

1. Tribal development centre in Maharashtra.

The Maharashtra government has set up an institution known as Quality Evaluation for Sustainable Transformation centre (QUEST).
The QUEST will evaluate and quantify special development budget allocations and their impact on tribal development.
The state has taken the initiative to bring greater accountability in spending and management of dedicated funds allocated for tribal welfare.

2. IIT-Delhi Installs India’s First 5G Lab.

IIT-Delhi has set up a radio lab with an array of antennas for “standardisation, research and manufacturing” of 5G equipment.
A Massive MIMO radio laboratory has been set up at IIT Delhi. This will be the first such lab in India.
In Massive MIMO, several antennas are deployed at the base station as compared to only a few antennas in 3G/4G.

3. NPCIL & NSDC signed a MoU.

The National Skill Development Corporation signed a MoU with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited to provide skill training to 500 youth and women at Kudankulam in Tamil Nadu.
The skill development project will be executed by NSDC.
The skill development project aims to provide gainful employment to nearly 70% of the trained candidates post-training.

4. India-Timor Leste sign moU.

India and Timor Leste have signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of public health to extend affordable healthcare to the people of the Southeast Asian nation.
India has offered to share its expertise in matching information technology with healthcare through telemedicine.
The MoU was signed by Krishan Pal Gurjar, the Minister of State for Social justice and Empowerment.

5. India, Zambia ink 4 agreements.

India and Zambia signed 4 agreements after the delegation-level talks held in the capital city of Lusaka.
The 2 agreements were signed in the areas of avoidance of double taxation & visa exemption on diplomatic and official passports.
The other 2 agreement were signed in the area of judicial cooperation and for the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Zambia.

6. India, Morocco sign pact.

India has inked a pact with Morocco under which focus would be laid on the evaluation of potential mineral resources and promoting exploration and mining.
The focus of the MoU is on the development of the geological infrastructure for Geoscience Maps and geochemical maps.
The MoU in the field of Mining and Geology for a period of 5 years was signed by both the countries.

7. Bangladesh ends Reservation in Government Jobs.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to scrap the quota system in government services.
Step was taken after thousands of students marched across the country in protest against a controversial policy of setting aside jobs for special groups.

8. UAE approves law on equal wages for men, women.

The Cabinet of United Arab Emirates (UAE) has approved the issuance of law on Equal Wages and Salaries for men and women.
The new law will ensure equal pay for men and women working in the country.
It will provide women with equal opportunities as partners in the UAE’s development.

9. L&T, BEL ink MoU for defence products.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) signed a MoU to cater to the needs of evolving domestic and export markets for defence products and systems.
The MoU seeks to leverage the capabilities of both the firms for meeting the growing requirements of the Indian Armed Forces.
The MoU also intends to leverage the well-developed supply chain & expertise of BEL and L&T.

10. Indian Consortium and Saudi Aramco Sign MoU.

The world’s biggest oil producer, Saudi Arabian Oil Co. has agreed to develop a “mega refinery” in Maharashtra with the Indian consortium consisting of Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum.
This will be one of the biggest foreign investments in the country’s hydrocarbon sector.
Saudi Aramco and the Indian consortium will each own 50% of the project.

11. RBI imposes Rs 30 million fine on IDBI Bank.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a Rs 3 crore penalty on IDBI Bank for not following the central bank’s rules on classification of loans.
IDBI bank did not adhere to RBI’s norms on Income Recognition and Asset Classification.
RBI said that this action is based on deficiencies in regulatory compliance.

12. India’s Kidambi Srikanth becomes World no. 1 Badminton player.

Kidambi Srikanth has become the first Indian male badminton player to attain the world number one ranking since Prakash Padukone in the 1980s.
Srikanth had become the first-ever Indian to win four Super Series titles in a year in 2017.

13. Babita won silver medal at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Babita Phogat won the silver medal in wrestling at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Babita claimed a silver in the 2010 edition before a gold in Glasgow.
Her medal opened India’s account in the wrestling competition of the Games.

14. Silver medal for Tejaswini Sawant in shooting.

Tejaswini Sawant has won silver medal in the finals of the women’s 50m rifle prone at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
This is the sixth CWG medal for Tejaswini, following two golds in 2006 and a pair of silvers and a bronze in 2010.
Anjum Moudgil, the other Indian to reach the women’s 50m rifle prone finals, finished 16th.

15. Kohli and Mithali voted world’s best.

Indian captains Virat Kohli and Mithali Raj were named as the leading men’s and women’s cricketers in the world respectively by Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
Kohli won his award for the 2nd year in a row after again starring in all formats.
Raj was acknowledged after a year in which she became the leading run-scorer in women’s One-Day Internationals during India’s run to the World Cup final.
