1. Government to install water ATMs in Haryana.

The Haryana government has prepared Water ATM Policy to provide clean drinking water to people at public places in cities.
Under this policy, public places such as bus-stands, railway stations, parks, bus stops, parking areas and markets would be identified.
There would be a distance of 400 meters between two water ATMs which could be adjusted according to the convenience of people.

2. New website & Application of ‘National Commission for Safai Karamcharis’ (NCSK) launched.

The new Website and Mobile App of the ‘National Commission for Safai Karamcharis’ (NCSK) was launched by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment.
The new website and Mobile App will help the Commission in addressing the grievances/complaints of petitioners in an efficient manner.
The new website is as per the Government of India Guidelines for official websites.

3. FSSAI launches Project Dhoop.

Food safety regulator FSSAI launched an initiative Project Dhoop to encourage schools to shift their morning assembly to around noon-time to ensure maximum absorption of Vitamin D in students through natural sunlight.
The move comes in the backdrop of rising incidence of Vitamin D deficiency in the country.
The initiative urges schools to conduct their morning assembly between 11 am & 1 pm.

4. India signs MoU with Republic of Korea.


India signed a MoU with Korea on Mutual Recognition of Certificates of Competency of Seafarers.
This paves the way for the two governments to mutually recognize the certificates of maritime education and training, competency, endorsements and medical fitness of seafarers issued by each other.
The agreement will open up employment opportunities for Indian seafarers on Korean ships.

5. MoU between India & the UK and North Ireland.

The Cabinet approved the MoU between India and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on the return of Illegal Migrants.
The MoU will facilitate the visa-free agreement for holders of diplomatic passports as well as liberalisation of UK visa regime for those who are travelling to the UK legally
It will ensure the return of persons who have no lawful basis to be in the territory.

6. First International conference on Water, Environment held in Kathmandu.

The first international conference on ‘Water, Environment and Climate Change: Knowledge Sharing and Partnership’ was inaugurated in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Nepal’s Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun stressed upon the need of water security and said that it should be given the top priority.

7. New norms for global projects.

The Central Vigilance Commission has drawn up a new set of guidelines for projects funded by international agencies such as the World Bank, IMF and Asian Development Bank.
The new guidelines will put an end to existing practice of government departments and agencies adhering to the guidelines of foreign donors.
The new guidelines also draw a distinction between grants-in-aid and loans.

8. Rakesh Bharti Mittal new Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2018-19.

Bharti Enterprises Vice-Chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal assumed the office of the President of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2018-19.
Uday Kotak, Founder and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank took over as President-Designate of CII for 2018-19.
Vikram Kirloskar is the new Vice-President of CII for the current fiscal.

9. Balram Bhargava appointed DG of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The Union Government has appointed AIIMS Professor Balram Bhargava as Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary of the Department of Health Research.
Bharagava, at present Professor and Senior Consultant Cardiologist at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

10. Rajesh Ranjan appointed as DG of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed senior IPS officer Rajesh Ranjan as Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

11. Wipro’s Rishad Premji new Nasscom chairman.

Global software major Wipro’s Chief Strategy Officer Rishad Premji has been appointed the new Nasscom Chairman for 2018-19.

12. Sachin bags bronze in para power lifting.

India’s Sachin Chaudhary bagged a bronze medal in the Men’s Heavyweight Para Powerlifting at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Nigeria got the gold medal and the silver medal was won by Malaysia.
India’s medals tally currently stands at 11 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze for a third position on the table.

13. Ankur Mittal grabs bronze medal in shooting.

Shooter Ankur Mittal won a bronze medal in the men’s double trap finals at the ongoing 21st Commonwealth Games.
Ankur won the silver medal in the World Championships in Moscow 2017 and he also won silver and gold medal in the ISSF World Cup.
India’s tally at the Games has now increased to a total of 24, including 12 gold, four silver and eight bronze.

14. Om Mitharval won bronze in 50m Pistol event.

Om Prakash Mitharval won the bronze medal in the men’s 50m pistol event at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
It was Mitharwal’s second medal in the ongoing prestigious event.
Australia won the gold medal and the silver medal went to Bangladesh.
India is currently standing at the third spot with 22 medals, including eleven gold, four silver and seven bronze.

15. Shreyasi Singh won Double Trap Gold.

Shooter Shreyasi Singh won the gold medal in women’s double trap event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.
The bronze medal went to Scotland.
She had won a Bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon in the double trap team event.
She won the silver medal in double trap event at the 2017 Commonwealth Shooting Championships.

16. 2018 Asia Cup moved out from India to UAE.

The 2018 Asia Cup, that was earlier scheduled to be held in India, has now been moved out to the United Arab Emirates.
The decision was taken following a meeting of the executive board of the Asian Cricket Council held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the winner of Asia Cup qualifier will compete in the 50-overs format event.
