1. High Courts to have ‘Justice Clocks’ in all 24 High Courts.
The Centre will soon install ‘Justice Clocks’ — LED message display boards — in all 24 High Courts.
The clocks will display the daily rate of disposal of cases, the number of pending cases and the individual rank of each of these courts.
A model of this ‘clock’ was first installed in the Delhi office of the justice department.
The aim is also to create a competition among the courts.
2. UIDAI to roll out face recognition for AADHAR by July 1, 2018.
The Unique Identification Authority of India has announced to roll-out face authentication feature by July 1, 2018, to add another layer of security for inclusive authentication of Aadhaar card holders.
It will provide additional choice to those facing issues with their fingerprint or iris authentication.
Face authentication will only be used along with the previous authentication tool.
3. Famous Madhavpur Mela begins in Gujarat on 25th March.
The famous Madhavpur Mela begins at Madhavpur Ghed of Porbandar district in Gujarat on 25th March.
In a unique initiative, the four-day-long Mela will see its first-ever cultural integration with the North-East with which it is said to share its roots.
The Madhavpur Mela of Gujarat shares its connection with the Mishmi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh.
4. SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2018 in New Delhi.
The SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2018 in New Delhi is organized by Ministry of Rural Development.
The SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2018 provides rural women producers with a national platform and an opportunity to showcase their products and seek buyers.
The Ministry will also bring out a directory of the products of all the women who will be showcasing their products at the Mela.
5. ‘Print Biennale India 2018’ inaugurated.
The first International Exhibition of Graphic Prints ‘Print Biennale India 2018’ was inaugurated in New Delhi on 26th March which is hosted by Lalit Kala Academy.
The participants are from countries such as USA, UK, Sri Lanka, Italy, Mexico, China, Israel, Sweden, Lithuania etc.
The event comprised a total of 200 original prints created by Indian and international artists.
6. N-TB app to help TB patients with diet on March 24, World Tuberculosis Day.
N-TB, an app for TB patients, was launched on March 24, World Tuberculosis Day.
N-TB allows healthcare workers who handle TB patients calculate the right BMI and nutrition levels.
It is based on the Guidance Document on nutritional care and support for patients with tuberculosis in India that was released by the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme.
7. ISRO to launch communication satellite
GSAT-6A, the 2nd S-band communications satellite, is set to be launched from Sriharikota on March 29.
It is designated for the use of the Armed Forces and will not add any transponder capacity for general uses.
A special feature of the GSAT-6A is its 6-metre-wide umbrella-like antenna, which will be unfurled in space.
The S-band’s antenna was developed by ISRO’s Space Applications Centre.
8. Google celebrates Chipko movement.
Google commemorated the 45th anniversary of the Chipko movement with a doodle on 25th March.
In 1973, villagers in Uttar Pradesh’s Chamoli district (now Uttarakhand) took to hugging trees to prevent their felling at the hands of contractors.
The whole movement was taken forward by women participants, who became a driving force in educating people on the deleterious effects of deforestation.
9. World’s largest cruise ship The Symphony sailed from Saint-Nazaire in France.
The world’s biggest cruise-liner, “Symphony of the Seas”, has left the shipyard of Saint-Nazaire in France to embark on its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean.
The ship weighs 228,000 tonnes and is 362 metres long.
The Symphony can hold up to 8,000 people including 2,200 staff.
The Symphony will head to Malaga in Spain and spend its first season in the Mediterranean.
10. JS Rajput nominated as India’s Representative.
The Government of India nominated Professor JS Rajput, former Director NCERT, as India’s representative to the Executive Board (EXB) of UNESCO.
Professor J S Rajput is an eminent educationist with rich experience in various fields including UNESCO.
The EXB is one of the constitutional organs of UNESCO and is elected by the General Conference.
The EXB examines the work of the organization.
11. Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) launches first brass futures contracts.
Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) launched futures trading in brass for the first time globally.
The country’s largest commodity exchange will start futures trading in brass on March 26.
MCX Brass futures is the first non-ferrous contract with the compulsory delivery option.
Brass is an alloy, which primarily contains around 55-60% copper and the rest is zinc.
12. India U-16 won Hong Kong football tournament.
The India U-16 team emerged champions in the “Jockey Cup International Youth Invitational Football Tournament” with a 4-2 victory over Hong Kong U-17 in the final in Hong Kong on 25th March.
The tournament was a U-17 event where India fielded their U-16 National Team.
This was the team’s third consecutive victory in as many days. The Indians had earlier defeated Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
13. Afghanistan legspinner Rashid Khan fastest to pick 100 ODI Wickets.
Afghanistan legspinner Rashid Khan has become the fastest bowler to reach the milestone of 100 ODI wickets.
The previous record was by Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc who broke the record in 2016.
Khan achieved the feat in just 44 ODI matches, surpassing Australian pacer Mitchell Starc who reached the landmark in 52 matches.
14. Punjab crowned National hockey champion.
Punjab won its first National title in five years, after winning against Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) in the final of the “8th men’s National hockey championships” on 25th March.
In the Bronze medal match, Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) defeated Air India Sports Promotion Board.
Hockey Punjab defeated Petroleum Sports Promotion Board by 2-1.
